Name: Hajime Yukimura (Haji for short)

Physical Appearance:
Haji is a man of large stature. he stands 6 feet 10 Inches tall, and weighs 285 lbs. He is muscular and athletic, with a v shape (broad shoulders with a smaller waist). His muscles are well defined, and he has large hands. Basically he is proportionate for his size, with Long Black hair pulled back and tied with a strip of cloth. Haji wears a normal style Shinigami shihakusho, which he wears tied loosely. From his waist to the bottom of his chest, he is wrapped in bandages that offer him stability in movement during sword movements. Some of the time he is known to wear a rice hat and a dark brown kimono coat.


Personality:
Haji is a unique creature. He tends to be quiet and reserved, but with a bit of a playfull side at times. His personality is hard to predict, which is a trick he learned long ago. His entire life was shaped by warfare, during the period of warring states Japan, even his death was violent at sekigahara. The reason that Haji tends to keep people guessing, is to keep them off guard. In some small amount, it is a way to control the situation he is in, to keep his strength and thoughts hidden. His mind is constantly working, attempting to always stay a step ahead of the world around him, yet he never shows it.

Haji believes strongly in the value of his spirituality and the path of the true warrior. He devotes his time to the maintance of both his body and his mind; training for hours with his blade to peefect his technique, and meditating to maintian the point of inner peace, often referred to as a state of nirvana or clarity. Long ago a man, who's name escapes him now said something to him that has stuck with him to this day; it is one of the few memories of life that remain. The saying went, "In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. Meet the situation without tenseness yet not recklessly, your spirit settled yet unbiased.... An elevated spirit is weak and a low spirit is weak. Do not let the enemy see your spirit."

Haji believes strongly in loyalty, honor, discipline, determination, commitment and oddly enough for a man shaped by war, kindness, though not the way most see it. He has no use for pure weakness, yet he does not believe in completely casting someone or something aside because of it. He sees everything as unpolished stones, simply in need of polishing.

Some see Haji as a warrior, some as a monk, while others may think of him as an odd ball... Many see him in different ways, and that's just how he likes it.

Fun Facts About Hajime:

1.) Haji likes animals, dogs in particular. For a man that can be ruthless at times, he is always calm and patient with animals.

2.) Haji's name and abbreviated name are a play on words. His full name "Hajime" means "Beginning", while the shortened version of his name "Haji" means ending. When looking at both, Haji is a man who is both the beginning and the ending.

Human Life:

Yukimura Hajime:
A name that history no longer remembers. His story is darkened and shrouded in mystery. His life and memories, lost even to his soul.
What is recorded of him from that time reads simply as this;

Killed in Battle - Sekigahara - 21st day of the 10th month of the fourth year of the Keichō period. (21 October, 1600)

And that was his life; reduced to a footnote on a page of some dusty scroll, locked deep away in the archives somewhere. What little is left of him elsewhere in the words of others seems to describe him as a man of strong character who fought with a quiet calmness that border-lined on the ethereal. Mentioned once by a fellow retainer after his death, he was quoted as saying of Hajime;

“He met his end the same way that he lived his life; with the calmness of a Buddah realizing enlightenment was upon him.” ~Matsudaira Clan Record; circa December 1600.

In his final battle, Hajime was given a nickname by the victorious Eastern Forces, which feared his prowess in battle, as he survived several blade and arrow wounds before finally collapsing after forcing the gates of the Eastern Army's main camp open, long after his lord's death. The name given to him was

Majinno Sekigahara

which means,

The Devil of Sekigahara

His determination to follow his lord to the grave while taking as many of the enemy with him earned him this title and fear of his enemies.

It is here, where his memories are scattered. Wandering as a lost soul for many years, Hajime never succumbed to the regret that often claimed so many souls. He left his life with no regrets; what he had lived for, had become a reality after his death, so the peace he left this world with, lived on in his soul. For many, many decades to come he simply wandered to and fro the places he had known while alive. He watched as the world moved on, often with an odd curiosity of one trying to understand that which is beyond his own comprehension. From time to time one of those great beasts would appear, the things he would later come to know as “Hollows”, but he always somehow managed to survive by his instincts alone. These things were engrained lessons he had learned through life, but for him now, no knowledge of this existed; only the feelings.

After what seemed like many lifetimes, Hajime still held an odd curiosity to the world that surrounded him. It was at this time he met a woman that told him of a place were those like him could live in peace, without fear of these hollows. Excited about the prospect of seeing something new and unexpected, he calmly allowed his soul to be purified and sent to Rukongai. He left with a small amount of hesitation, deep within his being, excepted the idea for its infinite possibilities. What he found though, would bring him unquestionable sadness.

Life in Soul Society:

Upon his arrival in Rukongai, Hajime knew no one, and had no where to go. The world he found was not one of wondrous possibilities, but one of suffering. A world he had seen vanish so very long ago. He was a long way from peace; 84 districts to be exact.

Not knowing where or why, he returned to the only life he had ever known; the path of a warrior. From time to time he would work for the less desirable characters of the outer districts, as a means by which to survive. Though he never lost his faith in his values, he felt disgusted with the world he now found himself in. For many years he wandered as a Ronin, just surviving. Until one day he wandered inward through the districts, and he met someone who would change the course of his history forever; a Shinigami

The shinigami saw something in him and recommended that he put his talents to better use in service to the Gotei 13. At first, Haji was hesistant, but eventually he figured it would be the best thing for him, so he entered the academy.


Life in the Shinigami Academy:

Time for Haji in the academy passed quite quickly. He excelled at sword skills and tactics/strategy, becoming the top of his class in the art. He also became quite good with shunpo skills, though his size and lack of desire to move great distances away prevented him from being great at it. As far as kidou went, he might as well turn his hand on himself and fire, because basically that is what happened. He mastered the ability enough to hit his target, but mostly he hurt himself in the process. This would be a talent he would put aside, as it held little value to him. He was a dillegent and quiet student, training much more than those around him. he had only a couple of real friends from his entrance to graduation. Upon completion it was determined that his battle powers and second nature of tactics best fit with the 11th, thus he was assigned.
Hajime served a time as Fukutaichou of the 11th before being promoted to head the 7th division as it's Taichou.


Current Life:

Currently Hajime is serving loyaly in the 7th as Taichou. Everday he maintains his strong work ethic for training and meditation, striving to master himself and the world around him.

In his spar time he, he either spends it with his comrades or more likely, playing with his Dog Inu.
(For those wondering, his dogs name "Inu" means "Dog". Haji never was very clever at naming pets.)
