Right now BD[Bleach Dynasty] is suffering a wave of member inactivity.
Or member dehydration.
And I may have the source, the chatbox.
I have seen a number of sites in my life time, and once they install a chatbox post activity goes down. In most cases it does.
And I think this is another one of those cases.
If you want member activity to rise, you need to somehow limit the chatbox or even get rid of it.
Isn't the point of having a forum up to have people use it.
If people aren't using the forum what is the point.
And if you don't want people to use the forum well then issues solved, just remove all the threads and have a black background with your chatbox.


Also I wanted to add, and this has nothing with a chatbox, but I would like to an RPG section that isn't dedicated to bleach.
Something we could put general RPGs in.

It is the holidays so not necessarily everyone puts 10 hours a day to BD, we all have families and friends to visit during holidays

Second, the chatbox helps to avoid spams to occur in the forum. Besides, the holidays could be one of the main causes for activeness dropping.

Well, the truth of the matter is, activity has grown, and we've had that chat box there for quite some time now, so sorry to break this to you, thats not the real reason for sudden inactivity.

Inactivity is caused by lack of reasons to stay, and the chat box makes people communicate with each other faster, thus might convince them that BD aint that bad a place, plus it lessens SPAM.

and about the RPG section, we did have them hazou, only BD is too inactive to start other RPG's while the divisions aren't that inactive them selves.

We will open it back up when more members come, so patience, as for the chat box, no, we wont remove them.

I agree with Ruru, chatboxes aren't the source of inactive members. Many people don't go online often just to post for hours straight. Members have lives & they have families. Also the holidays are right around the corner and about to finish up. The holidays are the second source of inactive members. The 1st is either school, work or even both! Many of the members are juggling school work & a job work. So they don't have the time to post, also just because you don't see people online doesn't mean they aren't active, people get on different hours of the day.

This place is sometimes so empty, but some members just love chatbox, so we can´t take it them... they would kill us LOL

Okay...I´m neutral for now...but I just wanted say Hazou´s opinion is not so bad....

I think it's true for a certain part. But deleting the chatbox will cause spam to rise, or maybe in this case, some people might not even check the forum anymore, because they use the chatbox to "wait" for response on topics they posted to.

All this means is that I have to invite over some of my friends to this site, so we can get an RPG section going.
I promise you won't have an inactive forum when I get these guys on here.

More members=activity
Or more of the right members=activity

I pointed the same thing out that Hazou said when everyone was discussing wear the chatbox should be moved to...
Yes it useful when someone is in between posts or waiting for responses, but roughly 75% of the time I see people in the chatbox, none of them are even making posts in the forum itself during that same time period that they are on, and if they do post, it's mainly in the Feedback area, Introduction corner, or the Central 46...

The main cause of inactivity could be that we aren't all on the same time schedule, so when some people come on, they don't see anyone else on and that discourages them from staying on that long... I mean, I check BD roughly 3 times a day (once when I first get on, once whenever I have the most time to, and once before going to bed), but if I see no one on and I'm still waiting for replies, I don't even feel like staying on long enough to see if anyone does pop on and make a post... So most of the time I just scan the main page, if there isn't anything for me to reply to then I just go do other stuff and forget about checking back here, and that exact pattern repeats itself a lot...

When it's morning where I live, it's typically afternoon or sometime nighttime for nearly all of the other members that I see being active the most often... That meaning, when I wake up, most of the members are just heading off to go to bed or at the very least barely on long enough to trade greetings with...
