I've had a thought about this, so since I found this thread, I thought i would add it.

Personally, i don't care about the chatbox. By that i mean it's ok with me if it is there, and I would be ok if it wasn't.

Now having said that, here is a basic fact; the chatbox does kill posting, as there is no need to do it since all you have to do is catch someone there and chat.

A chatbox like that works great for a site that shows anime/manga only, but it does hurt a forum site that needs posting.

But, on the other hand, as Jenny pointed out earlier, when people post, it's not always a great post. Alot of it is chat like, and doesn't really need to be in the posts.

So basically, this leads us to an interesting question; Would everything die off completely if the chatbox is gone, or would posting increase?

Being a moderator of a division with so few people I will elaborate.

Its basically no different then the game section, then again if people feel they need to post - they'd do it there.

This forum has what, 150 something members and considering the only people with decent activity and substantial post counts, are the people that want the forum to thrive.

Basically the only division capable of acting like a real division would be the 1st [in my best guess]. Every other division cannot maintain something in which they do not have - in the end its still the captains/vices that do the majority of the work and posting.

Everyone else [referring to its members] would seek refuge in the chatbox, because there seems to be more activity there, then anywhere. I believe if you were to remove the chatbox then activity would only momentarily "spike" but then I think its safe to assume it would inevitably decline almost as faster.

Just my thoughts: I find it rather difficult being a vice-captain of a division in which there is no one or nothing to build around.

I'll try to answer Haji's interesting Question, because I am split up on the chatbox thing..

First, it would increase posting, however, posting quality would greatly decrease, seeing how we always spam in the chatbox, specially when Amy's there :P if we'd do that in RP and Off Topic threads, it would greatly affect our post number but would affect their quality the opposite way..

I say we leave the chatbox, it absorbs what is unnecessary in the forum

if your all able to come up with something about the chat box, i'll go with the majority..

so please decide whether to keep it or remove it ^^

well what the heck. Let's just keep the chatbox and hope for the best.

There isn't really much we can do in reality, since we have no concrete ideas with which to replace it.

In our current state, it's probably best we look to all avenues to keep the forum going.

Perhaps when there are more people, and it becomes hard to keep up with it, as many people may talk at once, then remove it, but for now, I suppose we should just use it.

HEY, im bringing this back up now, but for a different concern, im thinking of removing the chatango chat box.

I dunno bout any of you, but it's loading too slow for me, and sometimes it crashes and scrambles stuff about.

So what are your thoughts about removing the chatango chat box and just sticking with the forum chat box!!
