Here are some fun facts to know about Our favorite captian:

History:

While practicing once in an open grassy area, Tōsen chances upon someone, and because he is blind, had no idea where the person was. It was only when Komamura spoke that he realized he had talked in the wrong direction. Complimenting Komamura’s ability to hide his presence so well, Tousen said that he had never been able to not feel someone’s presence before, even though his eyes cannot see. Komamura was highly touched, for this was among the first times that he was not looked upon as an outcast.

It is unknown where Sajin originated though Captain Yamamoto gave him the opportunity to join the Gotei 13 even if he was not human.

Later they meet time and again during their time in the Gotei 13 Squads, and Aizen is also introduced to Komamura via Tōsen’s recommendation.

Komamura would go on to earn his current status as Taichou of the 7th Division, of the Gotei 13.

Komamura is also very, very strong, even if his stats do not show it. If you will think back to the soul society arc, Sajin is the only one ever shown to be hit with the strongest of Kidous, Black Coffin.

He does go down after Aizen's attack, but if you watch on, after Aizen, Gin and Tousen have left, you will notice something quite funny; while everyone is being attended to by the 4th division for their wounds, Sajin simply bats away with his arm those who try and help him, and he just walks it off.

let me repeat this, he is hit with Black Coffin, survives, refuses treatment, and still has the strength to walk away angrily.... Amazing.


Shikai:

Sajin's shikai is a lessor version of his bankai. here is how Bleach wiki describes it:

command is "Roar" (轟け, Todoroke).
Shikai Special Ability: In its Shikai, Tenken creates various body parts of a fearsome armored giant to copy whatever body part Komamura moves; for example, should Komamura swing his sword, a gigantic disembodied arm wielding a sword appears and does the same thing. The body's gigantic parts generated by the Initial Release possess strength and attacking power proportionate to their size (though not as great as it could be due to not having a full body), making Komamura's Zanpakutō quite powerful.

Bankai

To continue with the Bleach wiki description:

Kokujō Tengen Myō'ō (黒縄天譴明王, Heavenly Punishment of Kokujō's King)
Bankai Special Ability: His bankai brings forth the entire giant, initially it displayed a size of around twenty meters tall, but in later arc it was shown as around a hundred meters tall. As in the Shikai, the giant copies every movement made by Komamura, allowing him to deal colossal, massive amounts of damage, as seen in his fight against Pō. There are times when after materializing his Bankai, Komamura has the option of being the giant itself, as seen in his battle with Aizen.

(To clarify that last part, remember when Sajin fought Aizen. The view switches to behind Aizen, and Komamura stands about 20 to 30 feet above him (this is when black coffin happens). What happened was that rather then using the giant, Sajin became the giant himself.)




Sajin's Personality

Physically imposing, Komamura is a gentle giant. He is the quintessential loyal and grateful subordinate. His deep gratitude to Yamamoto for taking him in overrides all his own feelings, and for Yamamoto he will do anything, even die. Komamura is a serious man, deeply scarred by the times he was spurned by society for his appearance, yet undyingly loyal to the values he holds. Like Ukitake and Unohana, he is not tough or cruel with his division, preferring to lead with impartiality.

An Omake shows him being pleased with the gift of a dog brush from earth, as he finds the brushes in Seireitei ineffective at brushing his fur. He has also noted that he would possibly use a dog Gigai if he were to go undercover in the human world. Not contradicting his appearance, his favorite food is meat, but he does not like carrot, supposedly because once his father told him that that kind of food is "not for their kind." It is neither a surprise that he likes dogs, especially ones of mixed breed, and even keeps one, Goro, in the division quarters. In his free time, he takes Goro for strolls.

The betrayal and subsequent departure of his close friend Kaname Tōsen, may have adversely affected his self confidence and view of himself since Tōsen was the first person to accept him and wound up being a traitor. This adverse affect is shown when he describes himself to the Arrancar Pō as "a mere worm of a man," though he may have been speaking in sarcasm, as Pō previously referred to his opponents as "worms."

He is a major force in battle because who he is. When he fights he is cold and calculating ready for anything. Once the battle is over he reverts back to his gentle giant self.

Captain Komamura Sajin is a firm believer of loyalty. The characteristic of his division is the tendency to attract sincere, vigorous and stout fellows into their ranks.

Hidden under the metal helmet was his true countenance - a wolf's head. After the unrest in Soul Society, although Captain Komamura has ceased to shield his true face from the public's eyes, that has not changed anything around him.

He might look like a dog but in fact he's a wolf. He likes mixed breed dogs and kept a dog named Goro in the division quarters. As Goro and Komamura shared the same communication wavelength, Goro was most emotionally attached to him. As to why he hates carrots, in the past, Komamura's dad told him, "this food is not for our kind", and ever since, he has never tasted carrots once.

As for the creation, that was the idea. Sajin is just my favorite Bleach Character all around, and I wanted to design something that would honor that.

Now as far as Bleach: Shattered Blade, I've never played it. Is it a good game? I would like to see the way he releases Bankai in it.

Here is a funny story about me if anyone cares; everytime I have ever participated in a Bleach RP anywhere, I've always been in the 7th because of my fanhood of Komamura. Well it isn't funny I guess, but it makes for a good waste of time to tell it..lol

Well, no one but me seems to post in here, so I thought I might add a bit of something to keep the flow
of this thread going.

This is one of my more favorite scenes from the Soul Society Arc. It is after kenpachi put tousen down, and his fight with Komamura begins.

I like it because it is the one time we get to see Sajin's awesome Bankai.

You and me both. Bleach has really declined lately; I can hardly read the manga anymore.

But that is true. It is a great scene with them both!

I only wish it had gone on a little longer, to show the large blade drop..lol

I wish that had been a battle that they had actually shown and carried out, instead of just starting and stopping.

I would be willing to bet that it would have been epic to see.

I'm a supporter of Komamura, especially with how he gets blamed for being the weakest of the Captains, which is far from the truth... Yeah so he probably lost against Zaraki (I don't remember the outcome ever being specified so it could have been a draw), but we just haven't seen him in battle enough to say he's weak... He one-hit killed Pou while in Resurreccion form with a simply swing of his Bankai, and I'm sure Pou was stronger than Shawlong was and Toushiro had a hard time against him... So by comparison, Komamura is no weakling...

The Zaraki/Sajin fight, was never really shown, but it appeared in the end to look more like a spar than an out and out battle.

basically it ended with what appeared to be a draw of sorts.

I also like the point you made. It's ture that Sajin often gets overlooked, mostly because he just doesn't appear that much in the manga/anime. But like I said in my first post, he also survived Black Coffin from Aizen, and not only survived, but refused medical help afterwards.

Sajin is one of the Bleach characters that I wish we could see more of. There's so much we don't know about him. I wish we could have seen the entire fight between Zaraki and Sajin. I think it would have been better than the Zaraki and Tousen fight. *sigh* I guess we just have to dream or wait until someone makes a fan vid showing how they think the fight went. *hehe*
